It is then essential to ensure that your kitchen

grease extraction system is regularly cleaned by an accredited BESA Contractor.so that you are fully compliant with the regulations set out by

The Association of British Insurers (ABI)

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE)

The Regulatory Reform RC44 Fire Safety Order (RISC)

Building Engineering Services Association (BESA)

BESA TR19 is a set of industry recognised guidelines that specify the standards for the cleanliness of kitchen extract systems.

The aim is to reduce the risk of fire by preventing the accumulation of grease, which can ignite and cause a fire to spread rapidly through the ductwork.

It provides guidance on the methods and frequency of cleaning kitchen extract systems, including the ductwork, fans, and associated components.

It specifies the recommended cleaning frequencies for different types of cooking operations and the types of systems used in commercial kitchens.

Once a clean has been completed a full system report with pre & post clean photos and grease measurements together with a VHR certificate will be issued to demonstrate your compliance with the current regulations.
